Who am I?

I’m Sergiu Floroaia. And because that probably means nothing to you at this moment, I’ll now try and elaborate on who I am as brief as possible (is that an oxymoron?).

I was born in Bucharest – Romania on the 1st of December 1984. Went to the nearest gymnasium and then to the Mihail Sadoveanu high school. Not really knowing back then that I’d like to do anything related to communications, I can now say that I accidentally ended up at the College of Communication and Public Relations (CC&PR) at the State University of Political and Administrative Studies (SUPAS) witch I think then was still called “David Ogilvy”. I quitted in the second year.

Probably wanting to compensate I started participating in different advertising contests or seminars:
- Graduated the Leo Academy classes from Leo Burnett in 2005 (second best team).
- Shortlisted at “Road to Golden Drum” from Graffiti BBDO in 2005.
- TeachME AdRevolution Seminars and Workshops in 2006.
- Won Best Reasearch at TeachMe (awarded by Synovate) in 2006.
- Impact Advertising School with McCann Erickson.
- Russell Davies’ Account Planning School of the Web.

After that I started doing more practical stuff:
- Junior Strategic Planner at Sister for a couple of months.
- Interning at McCann Erickson, again for a couple of months.
- Worked as a planner at badcat_
- Worked as a planner at McCann Erickson Romania

Clients I worked with: Bucegi, Dorato (a champagne from Zarea), Jolidon, Vodafone, Coca-Cola, Sprite, The One, Silvana and others.

Concerning other trainings, I attended the Idea Forum with speakers like Iain Tait, Faris Yakob, Russell Davies, Keith Lewin or Chris Jackson and the “Getting Ideas Into the Process” workshop and seminar of Russell Davies (and Iain Tait).
I also recently attended Jeffre Jackson’s Interestingness Seminar at Masterplan 2007.

Enough of the advertising stuff…

Before all this I had some weird jobs like working in a pawn shop and jewelery store or working as a sales agent for a tourism magazine.

I was also a member of The Aristocrats stand-up comedy crew.
And now I’m a co-writer for the “Ceva marunt” alternative stand-up comedy show with Toma and one of the two fathers of Comics.CevaMarunt.

I’m totally addicted to my RSS agregator and to bookmarking on del.icio.us. This shows two of my flaws: being a bit of a procrastinator and getting bored really fast.
